Post the General Assembly in September, numerous working meetings have been scheduled amongst federations. One of the recent and notable ones took place in Croatia’s capital, Zagreb.
The Croatian Volleyball Federation’s headquarters served as the venue for a dialogue about European volleyball’s future. Key representatives from several federations converged to strategize the way forward for the sport. Among those in attendance were:
- Frane Žanić, President of the Croatian Volleyball Federation
- Valentina Bifflin, Director of the Croatian Volleyball Federation
- Miroslav Przetpelski, Vice-President of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV)
- Đula Mešter, President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia (OSS)
- Roko Sikirić, ex-Head of the CEV Volleyball Department
- Leszek Wencel, Board Member of the Volleyball Federation of Poland
- Ivan Knežević, Secretary-General of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia.
The meeting provided a platform for exchanging insights from the past performances of the attending federations. The emphasis, however, remained on mapping out the future course for European volleyball.
Frane Žanić, President of the Croatian Volleyball Federation, underlined the historical bond between the Serbian and Croatian federations. Reflecting on the meeting, he noted, “We had productive discussions about European and global volleyball’s future. Given our shared vision and the anticipated steps to further the sport, I’m confident that our collaboration will yield positive results.”
“Given our long-standing good relations between the federations of Serbia and Croatia, I think it’s great that we met in Zagreb with our friends from Poland. We talked about the future and progress of European and world volleyball. I believe this is one in a series of meetings and discussions we will have because in the future we expect steps that we, as the leading people of the Federation, are obliged to take for the benefit of European and world volleyball. In that regard, I think we have reached very good conclusions, and I am convinced that our cooperation will continue.”

Đula Mešter, President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, echoed a similar sentiment. He highlighted the fruitful talks they had with long-standing partners, including the Croatian and Polish federations. Mešter expressed optimism about the future direction, emphasizing the shared goal of elevating the quality of European volleyball.
“In these two days, we had a successful meeting with our long-standing partners from the Croatian Volleyball Federation, and the Polish Volleyball Federation. We talked about possible cooperation, about the future of European volleyball, and I think we are heading in the right direction and that we will achieve a common goal, which is to create something new and improve the quality of volleyball in Europe.”
