Fourth seed Texas (27-4) defeated top seed and also reigning champions Nebraska (31-3), 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-21) to advance to their fifth overall and second-straight NCAA final.
Junior outside hitter Ebony Nwanebu led the Longhorns with 15 kills, making only one error on 37 attempts for a team-high 17 points. Senior outside hitter Paulina Prieto Cerame also posted double-digit kills for Texas with 12. Sophomore outside hitter Mikaela Foecke led Huskers with 13 kills, five digs and two aces.
The Longhorns will face No. 6 Stanford in grand finale.
The Cardinal outlasted No. 2 Minnesota 3-1 (26-24, 25-19, 22-25, 25-22), moving one step closer to their seventh national championship. Making their 20th NCAA Final Four appearance, Stanford (26-7) advances to their 15th national final, tops in the nation.
Seeking their first NCAA title since 2004, the Cardinal once again received valuable contributions from senior middle blocker Inky Ajanaku and freshman outside hitter Kathryn Plummer, who both totaled 15 kills. Senior outside hitter and also Big Ten Player of the Year, Sarah Wilhite, accomplished a double-double in her final match for Golden Gophers, with 25 kills and 13 digs.
Texas – Stanford National Final is scheduled on December 17 at 9:00PM local time (15:00 C.E.T.).
