by WoV

Bar, Montenegro, April 13, 2012. The third day of action for the European qualifier that is taking place in Bar contributed a little surprise as Italy’s winning streak was stopped by Finland that went up 2:1 in sets (25-22, 15-25, 27-25) and eventually caused a sensation by seizing also set 4 with the score of 25-20 at the end of a tremendous fight with the young “Azzurri”. This is a very important win for the Finns who will be battling with Italy and Greece for the sole ticket at stake to advance directly to the final round of the European Championship.

Sweden had opened the program by routing Belarus in straight sets with the guys from Minsk playing their worst game since the start of the tournament. The score was close only in the opening set while Sweden dominated all the way through in the second and third section of the match (28-26, 25-11, and 25-17).
Greece routed the local heroes of Montenegro in straight sets too (26-24, 25-15, and 25-18) to show off its quality and remain in contention for the pass to make it to the final round scheduled for late August in Poland and Denmark
