Mark Lebedew definitely left his mark on the functioning and results of the Polish men’s volleyball club Jastrzębski Węgiel, but the dynamics of high-level sports rarely forgives periods of bad results, even if these periods are short.

An Australian coach Mark Lebedew was at the helm of Jastrzębski Węgiel from 2015. During this period he won a bronze medal in PlusLiga which can be considered a pretty good result knowing how strong this championship is.

This season, Jastrzębski simply could not get the rhythm, having a 9-7 record in PlusLiga, which positioned the club fourth in the standings. They were also eliminated in the quarterfinals of the national cup. And Lebedew paid the price. He was replaced by Ferdinando De Giorgi.

I am very proud of what we were able to achieve during my two and a half years with Jastrzębski Węgiel and very happy that I could leave it in a better condition than when I arrived. The club is like my family and I wish them all the best in the future,” Lebedew stated to our website how he felt after being let go by Jastrzębski management.
