Zhu Ting’s consistent performance on offence caught everyone’s attention as she scored 19 points in the match to lead China’s attack.
China came off strong in the first set through solid spikes and tough blocks on the struggling Cuban side. They took a comfortable lead and control of the first set 25-13.
In the second set, Cuba looked unaffected of their first set loss and displayed better team spirit that resulted to a close battle. China managed to pull away after the first technical timeout on a steady offence by the entire team and eventually sealed the set with a 25-20 win.
China carried their momentum into the third set and took an 8-5 lead in the first technical timeout. China looked determined to end the match on 19-11 lead that forced Cuba to call its last timeout in the set. Cuba benefitted from the timeout and narrowed the score on good attacks and digs. But China’s dominating presence at the net prevailed as they secured the set and match 25-15.
