GP 2014: Barbolini – “Japan, here we come”

Turkey saw off Italy in four sets in the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix in DC Yantarny, booking their place at the Finals in Tokyo in the process.

Turkey captain Sonrisma Gozde: “It is very important for us. We want to play in the Final Six very much. We were close to points and we put maximum efforts in for this victory.”

Turkey coach Massimo Barbolini: “I am very happy that we won today. We play with very strong team. In the Beginning of the tournament we had only one dream – to play in the Final Six. I would like to thank my team for this result. We go to Japan.”

Italy captain Francesca Piccinini:We understood the importance of the match because it was a chance to play in Final Six. We did our best to play well today. But we lost because Turkey played much better.”

Italy coach Marco Bonitta: “It is time to think about the World Championship. I consider that we used all our efforts and all luck for showing the best game in the World Grand Prix. But positives for us ended today because our libero suffered a serious injury. I thank Kaliningrad, Russia and the Volleyball Federation of Russia for the hospitality.”

Congratulations to Barbolini and the girls, especially Gozde and Neriman. We should find a way to activate another scorer apart from these two. We lack our star player Neslihan and may be it is our luck this time.
