The hosts of the 2019 African Men’s Championship, Tunisia, captured their 10th gold medal and remained the national team with most medals on their account in the continent, overall (19). In the final, in the city of Tunis, Tunisia defeated the bronze medalists from the previous edition of the tournament, Cameroon, by a 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 26-24. 21-25, 15-13) in one hour and 48 minutes of a play. Both sides progressed to the final as undefeated (5-0).

The opposite hitter Hamza Nagga top-scored for the titleholders with 20 points while Ismaïl Moalla added 16. He was named the MVP of the African Championship for the second time in a row. The setter Khaled Ben Slimene (named Best Setter) had as much as 7 kill blocks, which is a respectable display even for middle blockers, let alone for players covering his position! Besides Moalla and Ben Slimene, another player of Tunisia national team picked up an individual award. Anouer Taouerghi was recognized Best Libero.

The 2 biggest stars of Cameroon, Yvan Arthur Kody and Nathan Wounembaina, tallied 27 and 20 points, respectively.

Algeria won the bronze medal after they beat Egypt in 4 sets.
