Japan dominates 2022 Asian U18 Championship to win 3rd gold in row

After defeating the hosts Iran 3-0 in the final matchup in Tehran, Japan triumphed in the 2022 Asian Boys’ U18 Volleyball Championship.

Invincible Japan, led by the tournament’s MVP Hiroki Bito, highlighted their supremacy over the 14th Asian Boys’ U18 Championship by beating the home side of Iran in the final with a score of 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-23). Japan finished the competition with a 6-0 record and claimed their third consecutive continental title in this age category.

Earlier, India surprised Korea by winning the third-place match in a tiebreaker, partially 25-20, 25-21, 26-28, 19-25, and 15-12, to capture the bronze medal – their first medal in the Asian U18 Champs in 14 years.

Japan, Iran, India, and Korea, the top four teams in the competition, have qualified for the 2023 FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship.
