Iran retains title in Asian Men’s U20 Championship and surpasses Korea in all-time gold medal list

Invincible Iran won the 21st Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championship.

In Riffa, Bahrain, the national team of Iran found a way to outplay India in the final of the Asian U20 Championship 2022 to successfully defend its title and maintain its undefeated record in the tournament of 5-0. Iran earned a four-set victory over their rivals who made the final match appearance for the first time in 20 years, partially 25-12, 25-19, 22-25, and 25-15. The 18-year-old opposite hitter on the winning side, Amir Mohammad Golzadeh, was awarded MVP.

Thus, Iran extended their dominance in this top-tier age group competition in the continent to seven titles, including two consecutive, taking the lead on the all-time winners’ list over Korea which remained on six trophies. Iran and India have both guaranteed their spots in the 2023 FIVB U21 World Championship.
