After winning a gold medal at the 5th Men’s Asian Volleyball Cup and also becoming the MVP of the tournament, a few days ago, the captain Alireza Behboodi said farewell to Iranian National Team.

In a hard fought game, Iran beat China in the final held in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand 3-1(23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-21). After the game, Behboodi was selected Most Valuable Player. Symbolically, by kissing the four corners of the court, a 37-year-old setter said goodbye to the jersey of Iran’s NT. His teammates and coaching staff did the same and then, they throw Behboodi to the air for several times.

The captain of Iranian National Team “B”, who performed at the Asian Cup, was invited to defend the colors of his country for the first time in 2002. The silver medal at the 2002 Asian Games was Behboodi’s best result with Iran before claiming gold at the same event this year. He has played in several home teams of which Paykan Tehran and Shahrdari Urmia VC are the most famous. This season he will play in Shahrdari Tabriz.

Recall that another Iranian NT setter ended playing for the national team these days but will keep performing for his club.
