China women’s volleyball league: Liaoning still on top, Beijing beat titleholders Jiangsu despite 28 points from Changning

Liaoning and Beijing remained undefeated in the Chinese women’s volleyball league (CVL) after three rounds of Stage 2 in which best eight teams from the Group Stage (four teams from each pool) take part.

Thanks to 18 points from Duan Fang and 15 points from Wang Yimei, Liaoning beat Zhejiang by a 3-1 on the road in front of nearly 3,000 spectators. Li Jing scored 18 points for the losing side, while Zhu Yuezhou added 5 kill blocks.

Beijing emerged as winners from a two and a half hours long battle against the defending champs Jiangsu 3-2 (26-24, 24-26, 25-17, 25-27, 15-9). Zeng Chunlei poured in 23 points while Yang Hanyu added 7 kill blocks. Zhang Changning scored 28 points on the other side.

Bayi easily beat Tianjin by a 3-0 with 24 points from Liu Yanhan while Shanghai swept Guangdong by the same result. Zhang Lei topped the winning side with 21 points.
