Turkey currently tops the charts in Pool A of with 12 points, followed by Bulgaria (11) and Slovenia (9). Azerbaijan is at the bottom of the standings with four points.
“In the first match I could see that our team is not that much weaker than Turkey,” comments Azerbaijan’s head coach Aleksandr Chervyakov.
“However, my players are still very young and inexperienced, so again they made too many mistakes throughout the match. Nevertheless, they are learning from their mistakes, getting valuable experience and are extremely motivated to perform well at home.”
In the other matches on schedule this coming weekend for Pool A, Bulgaria will host Slovenia in Sofia.
