In Game 1 of the Superliga Cimed 2018-2019 playoff quarterfinals, third seed EMS Taubaté Funvic struggled to prevail against No.6 Vôlei Renata (better known under the name of Campinas) at home despite being two sets ahead of the rivals in the match – 3-2 (25-14, 25-17, 25-27, 21-25, 15-12). Leandro Vissotto top-scored for Taubaté with 21 points but Lucas Saatkamp probably had the key role in winning with five kill blocks and 87% excellent attack (18 points overall). Gabriel Vaccari scored 17 points for Renata.
The top seed SESI-SP confirmed the role of the favorites by beating No.8 Vôlei UM Itapetininga in straight sets, while SESC-RJ downed Fiat/Minas in the match full of errors on both sides (32 Sesc, 30 Minas) and with Wallace Souza notching 25 points and reaching 400 points milestone this season (416 pts.).
