The players of the third seed EMS Taubaté Funvic coped well with the pressure of a decisive Game 5 of the Superliga Cimed 2018-2019 playoff finals against the top seed SESI-SP. In the packed Arena Suzano, a neutral ground that was chosen for the last three games of the finals and whose stands were filled with the fans of both sides but with SESI being official hosts, Taubaté prevailed in four sets, partially 25-21, 25-22, 21-25 and 25-20.
Thus, the team that from the São Paulo state, who was always among the title favorites since 2013 when Funvic entered the club as the main sponsor, won its first-ever national title while playing its second playoff finals (2016/17, 2018/19).
Ricardo Lucarelli was named MVP of the championship, while Leandro Vissotto was recognized MVP of the Finals.
