After turning around the match against Fluminense F.C. at home, Sesc RJ reached the second victory in the 2019/20 Brazilian Women’s Volleyball Championship regular season.

Sesc recovered from losing the first set against Fluminense to record their second win in as many games in the 2019/20 Superliga Feminina regular season: 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-19). The head coach of the Rio de Janeiro team Bernardo Rezende once again couldn’t count on the starting opposite hitter Tandara Caixeta, who is recovering from abdominal pain. So, just like in the first round, Bernardinho put backup Renata Colombo “Renatinha“ in the line-up. She justified the trust of her coach and top-scored for Sesc with 17 points. Milka Marcília made 6 kill blocks, while Dominican Yonkaira Peña Isabel had a 79% attack (11/14). As for Fluminense, Thais Souza “Thaisinha“ tallied 17 points.

The vice-champions Dentil/Praia Clube easily outplayed São Cristóvão Saúde/São Caetano in their first home match in the competition this season: 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-13). The team from Uberlândia was led by Fernanda Garay “Fê Garay“ who chipped in with 16 points, of which 7 came from the service!

Knowing that Superliga is considered one of the strongest club tournaments in the world, when any of the teams finish a set with single digits on its account, it’s truly surprising. The titleholders Itambé/Minas let Valinhos take only 8 points in the first set in a 3-1 win!
