In a decisive match on Friday, Brazil clinched a place in the men’s volleyball quarterfinals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, defeating Egypt 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-16). After previous setbacks against Italy and Poland in Pool A, Brazil rebounded strongly with standout performances from Darlan Souza, who scored 15 points, and outside hitters Ricardo Lucarelli and Yoandy Leal, contributing 13 and 10 points, respectively. Egypt’s Mohamed Issa and Ahmed Azab led their team with eight and seven points. Brazil now joins Slovenia, France, Italy, Poland, Germany and the United States in the quarterfinals, with Serbia and Japan competing for the final spot.
