RIO 2016 W: The Olympic champions are OUT! China eliminated Brazil! (VIDEO)

China posted a huge upset, as they ended Brazil’s Olympic reign with a 3-2 (15-25, 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 15-13) win in the women’s quarterfinals of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at Maracanazinho on Tuesday. China will face Netherlands in the semifinals.

Brazil will not win the 3rd consecutive Olympic gold! The hosts and the top favorites of the Rio 2016 women’s volleyball tournament got defeated by China in a 5-set thriller!

Everything started well for Brazil as they dominated the 1st set – 25:15. However, the Chinese squad woke up in time as they seized the 2nd set – 25:23 and the 3rd set – 25:22. Brazil managed to tie the score by taking the 4th set – 25:22, but that was it. In the 5th and the final set, China prevailed by 15:13 and made the biggest upset at the Olympic tournament so far.

The absolute hero of the winning team was young Zhu Ting who scored 28 points in this match.
