By beating the 2019 Final Four hosts Croatia in four sets, partially 18-25, 25-15, 25-22, and 25-22, in the city of Varaždin, the Czech Republic won the European Golden League title again after seven years.
Andrea Kossanyiová highlighted the winners in the final with 21 points, while Veronika Trnková stood side by side with her in terms of a most prolific player as she made an astonishing 8 kill blocks! Still, Kossanyiová was named MVP of the Final Four. Samanta Fabris was Croatia’s top scorer in the gold medal encounter with 16 points. Ema Strunjak set up 4 kill blocks.
The best two teams in the Finals will compete in the 2019 FIVB Challenger Cup in Lima, Peru (June 26-30), vying for the spot in the FIVB Nations League next year.
Belarus finished the tournament as the bronze medalists, which can be considered a disappointing ranking in the eyes of their fans knowing that they were unbeaten in the pool stage.
Belarus succumbed to the Czech Republic in the semifinal but beat Spain in the match for the bronze by a 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-18).
