Cucine Lube Civitanova recorded the second win in as many games in the 2022 CEV Men’s Volleyball Champions League.
Only three days after losing the final of the FIVB Club World Championship to Sada Cruzeiro, Lube bounced back and reached a straight-set victory over OK Merkur Maribor in Round 2 of the group stage of the CEV Champions League Volley 2022 | Men. The team coached by Gianlorenzo Blengini traveled more than 9,500 km in the last 72 hours and came to Slovenia without Juantorena and Zaytsev. Cuban Robertlandy Simón was the most deserved for the win of the Italian side in Pool C with 20 points, eight of which he collected by his block. He even served four aces.
Russia’s Zenit Saint Petersburg had an easy job in Serbia against Vojvodina NS seme Novi Sad in Pool D, serving 11 aces as a team. Germany’s Berlin Recycling Volleys earned a hard-fought triumph over Portugal’s Sport Lisboa e Benfica (3-1) in the same pool and now both Zenit and Berlin are at 2-0.
Italy’s Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia took advantage of a dreadful form of the French champions AS Cannes Dragons, which are last-placed in the home league, to beat them 3-0 in Pool E.
Turkey’s Ziraat Bankası Ankara have a perfect record in the Champions League after prevailing over Poland’s Projekt Warszawa in four sets in Pool B.
