Ziraat Bankkart Clinches CEV Cup Title in Ankara
In front of a roaring home crowd and under the bright lights of Ankara’s TVF Ziraat Bankkart Sports Hall, Ziraat Bankkart delivered a performance for the ages, defeating Poland’s Asseco Resovia Rzeszow 3-1 to capture the 2025 CEV Cup title—the club’s first-ever European title.
Having edged past Resovia 3-2 in the first leg in Poland, the Turkish side returned home with momentum and confidence. Despite dropping the first set 20-25, they stormed back with resilience and poise, winning the next three sets 25-17, 28-26, and 25-14.
Ziraat Bankkart, who had previously reached the finals in 2018 and 2021 without success, finally broke their European curse in style.
Matt Anderson Steals the Spotlight
At the heart of Ziraat Bankkart’s triumph was American star Matt Anderson, who delivered a phenomenal performance. With 24 points, including 7 serve aces, a block, and a 53% success rate in attacks, Anderson’s dominance on the court earned him the MVP honors of the final.
Top Performers Rise to the Occasion
Besides Anderson’s stellar display, Emre Savaş added 16 points, while Wouter Ter Maat contributed 11 for the Turkish side. On the opposing end, Resovia’s efforts were led by Bartosz Bednorz with 15 points, Stephen Boyer with 12, and Karol Kłos who chipped in 11.
