Chemik vs. Modena
Triple consecutive champions of Poland and also a team that has 11-0 in OrlenLiga got beaten in front of own crowd by Italian representative Liu Jo Nordmeccanica Modena 3-1 (25-21, 29-27, 21-25, 25-13). This defeat of Chemik came as a surprise because Modena are only 7th in Serie A1!
Modena totally outblocked rivals 19-6! Reasons for their victory do not need to be looked any further than this. Turkish Neriman Özsoy led scorers of Italian side with 18 points. Serbian Stefana Veljković and Aleksandra Jagieło stood out in Chemik with 13 each.
Another Polish team suffered defeat today. Dąbrowa Górnicza got downed by Azerbaijani Azerrail Baku in four sets in Pool C.
