It rarely happens that top two sides in the tournament suffer defeats in the same round but that's exactly what happened in Round 22 of the 2017/18 Swiss men’s volleyball championship Nationalliga A (NLA).

Despite beating them in the last six mutual encounters, the leaders in the standings Lausanne UC could not cope with the persistent team of Volley Luzern on the road – 3-2 (27-25, 18-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-11).

The second-ranked Biogas Volley Näfels experienced the same fate against Chênois Genève Volleyball, 3-2, also on the road.

Interestingly, Chênois threw another title favorites on their knees, only a week ago, as they defeated two-time defending champions Volley Amriswil in the tie-break as well.
