The top-seed VK Prievidza won the Extraliga 2017/18, which was their first gold medal in the national championship in the club history.

In a decisive Game 7 of the playoff finals against the titleholders and also No.2 VKP Bystrina SPU Nitra, Prievidza prevailed in four sets, partially 25-19, 26-24, 13-25, 25-16, to close the series with a 4-3.

The Brazilian Marcílio Silva topped the winning side with 21 points (3 aces, 3 kill blocks), while Marek Ludha added 6 kill blocks. The Austrian Anton Menner scored 12 points for Nitra. Peter Kašper made 4 kill blocks.

This was only the third time in the history of the tournament that seven matches had to be played to determine the champions.

Prievidza became the ninth club to win the championship in 26 years of Extraliga existence.
