It was the second straight playoff finals between these two sides and second championship title in a row, also second overall, for Shakhter. Interestingly, as much as eight players from the squad that won the first title in the club history last season took part in the second quest for the gold medal.
In Game 5, Shakhter was led by Andrei Radziuk, who scored 29 points, and Vitalii Bondar, who made 7 aces. The Ukrainian Dmytro Shorkin delivered 26 points for Stroitel.
