BLR M: Shakhter pin back-to-back gold medal in national championship

Shakhter Saligorsk won a back-to-back title in the Belarusian men’s volleyball championship Division A.

The top-seed Shakhter Saligorsk prevailed over No.2 Stroitel Minsk in a decisive Game 5 of the 2017/18 Division A finals by a 3-2 (23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 18-25, 15-10) to clinch the series with the same result.

It was the second straight playoff finals between these two sides and second championship title in a row, also second overall, for Shakhter. Interestingly, as much as eight players from the squad that won the first title in the club history last season took part in the second quest for the gold medal.

In Game 5, Shakhter was led by Andrei Radziuk, who scored 29 points, and Vitalii Bondar, who made 7 aces. The Ukrainian Dmytro Shorkin delivered 26 points for Stroitel.
