Italy have scored a big victory today, beating China in four sets to keep the first place in Pool B!

Even though the Italian girls were behind by one set, they didn’t want to surrender, playing much better in the next three sets and winning the game.

Paola Egonu led the team with 29 points, while Ting Zhu had 20 on the other side.

I’m satisfied with today’s result. It’s a good step forward. In the first set, the players were a little bit nervous but from the second set I had the players play freely. We knew all about the China team and their abilities, so we tried to serve strong and we were able to focus on the game and this helped us to win. It’s important for us to keep this attitude and playing style and to keep our concentration,” says Davide Mazzanti after the game.

The head coach of China Lang Ping was not satisfied with this defeat.

Congratulations to the Italian team. We were able to get into the game at the start but Italy’s spiking and blocking was excellent. Now, we need to review this game and our skills as we head toward our next match.”
