South Korea spoiled the impression which they made on Day 1 of the 2019 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League – Preliminary Round second week by losing to Thailand on Day 2.

Thailand

Thailand

Thailand recovered from losing to China in the opening game of the second week, yesterday, to beat South Korea by a 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 25-20) in Pool 7 in Macau, China. Thus, led by Malika Kanthong and Chatchu-On Moksri who scored 19 points apiece, Thailand ended a three-game losing streak in the tournament. Pyo Seung-Ju notched 17 points for South Korea who remained at only one win so far.

China-vs-Belgium

China-vs-Belgium

Pool 7 hosts China swept Belgium by a 3-0, not giving a glimmer of hope to the European side and scored a third victory in a row. Since the match was a one-way street from its beginning, there was no need for China’s head coach Lang Ping to bring the main star of the team Zhu Ting onto the court. The height of the players in the starting line-up of the current Olympic champions was 1.90m in average which mostly reflected in the block (11-4). Li Yingying top-scored for the winning side with 15 points, while Yuan Xinyue set up 5 kill blocks. Kaja Grobelna scored 14 points for Belgium (a 2-3 record), including 3 kill blocks. Marlies Janssens served 5 aces.
