The Polish Volleyball Federation (PZPS) reported on its website that the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has modified the rules relating to the roster of national teams that will participate in the Volleyball Nations League this year.

The FIVB has established new rules relating to the number of players that can be registered in the roster of each national team for the competition, which will decline progressively as VNL gets nearer to its end: 30 players in the O-2A form, 25 players in the O-2 form and, finally, 12-14 players in the O-2bis form. Last year’s rules relating to the minimum number of 16 players that played in the 2018 World Championship and had to be compulsorily included in the O-2 form, and the minimum number of 18 players in the same form that competed in the 2018 VNL or the 2018 Challenger Cup, have been abolished in case the specific team didn’t participate in the 2018 World Championship.

Also, a new rule has been introduced regarding the roster of the teams qualified for the final tournament of the 2020 VNL. Each participating team must have a minimum of 10 players in the final composition (O-2bis form) who have been present in the composition (O-2bis form) for at least 9 games of the VNL this year during one of the 5 tournaments of the intercontinental stage. Each of the 10 players must have been on the court in these games during a minimum of 30% of the rallies concluded with one point for one team or another. After the end of the pool stage of the 2020 VNL, the FIVB will confirm to the teams that have qualified for the Finals the list of players who meet the above criteria.

The FIVB is out of their minds. For years we’ve been trying to grow the ‘ indoor’ volleyball sport. They have done everything not to grow the sport but instead support beach which they should not be doing! People worldwide want to watch their home country teams play. Yet instead of simply showing on YouTube which every country could watch, they created a site to charge people to watch. Yet on YouTube they can make money by showing match’s live as well uploading match’s for reply for everyone to watch per time zones. Volleyball players are tired of FIVB not supporting our sport helping our countries to watch, making players play changing rules to hurt players. When there is no need for these things. It is far to long time for volleyball players to take over The FIVB instead of all these rich people who are not nor have ever been players making decisions for we the players. Now with Olympics backed to 2021 everyone should be able to watch volleyball and all events during The Olympics.
FIVB stop hurting ‘ our’ sport for your own gain. We have had enough!
