VNL W: Brazil prevails over winless Italy, ’Oranje’ downs Serbia

Brazil turned over the sixth round match of the 2021 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League in the Rimini bubble against the host team of Italy.

Brazil turned over the match against Italy after starting the game badly and losing the first set, and won for the fifth time in the 2021 Women’s VNL. Rosamaria Montibeller and Tandara Caixeta jointly stood out in the ’Seleção’ in the attack with 17 points apiece. Ana Carolina da Silva ’Carol’ blocked rivals 5 times, while Camila Brait made 86.7 % digs (14/15). Italy is at 0-6.

The Dominican Republic deepened the bitter campaign of the Poland National Team in the VNL 2021. It completed Week 2 with two wins and one defeat and improved to 3-3. Dominicans beat Poland after livening up from losing the opening set, inflicting the fourth defeat to the rival in the competition. Two of Poland’s starters, Malwina Smarzek and Zuzanna Efimienko-Młotkowska, were out of the squad for today’s match which certainly contributed a lot to its loss. Bethania De La Cruz top-scored the side from the Caribbean with 26 points (just as Magdalena Stysiak scored on the losing side), while Annerys Vargas made 4 blocks.

The Dutch players concluded their second week in the bubble in Rimini with a 3-1 victory over Serbia in which Nika Daalderop tallied 20 points, Juliet Lohuis set up 5 blocks, and Marrit Jasper made 82.4 % digs (15/17). The team of head coach Avital Selinger has won for the fourth time in six games.
