In view of Russia’s armed invasion of Ukraine, the FIVB Board of Administration has determined that preparing and staging the next Men’s World Championships in Russia will be unfeasible. As a result, it has decided (so far, the info was unofficial) to take away the organization of the event to Russia, which will take place in August and September 2022. At a later date, the new host nation or more of them will be announced. Earlier, the FIVB banned Russia to host VNL.

Having followed its own initial ruling to remove official events from Russia, the FIVB Board of Administration has also confirmed that all Russian, but also Belarusian, national teams, clubs, officials, and beach volleyball and snow volleyball athletes are ineligible to compete in all international and continental tournaments. The decision is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.
