In the recent matches of Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2023, hosted by the Philippines, the Netherlands and Poland marked triumphant victories against Canada and Slovenia, respectively, as part of the Pool 6 program.
Opening the day in Pasay City, the Netherlands outperformed Canada with a convincing 3-1 scoreline (25-22, 25-22, 17-25, 25-18), improving their win-loss record to 5-4. The match was highlighted by the stellar performance of Dutch captain Nimir Abdel-Aziz, who achieved a match high of 24 points, while Ryan Sclater topped Canada’s score with 20 points.
Meanwhile, Poland made a robust start to their Pool 6 campaign, pulling off an impressive 3-2 (29-31, 21-25, 25-20, 25-20, 15-13) victory over Slovenia. This win fortified Poland’s standing with a 7-2 win-loss record and a total of 16 points, leaving Slovenia to maintain their position at 6-3 with 19 points.
In a shared honour, Aleksander Sliwka of Poland and Slovenia’s Klemen Cebulj both emerged as the top scorers of the match, contributing 20 points each for their respective teams.
