Bulgaria secured their place in the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship final with a 3-1 victory over Czechia. The win guarantees their sixth world medal and brings them within reach of a long-awaited first gold.
The Bulgarians were led by Aleksandar Nikolov, who delivered a stellar 31-point performance, supported by Aleks Grozdanov (12) and Asparuh Asparuhov (10). Despite committing 28 unforced errors, they proved stronger in all other areas – attack (56–49), block (12–7), and serve (8–4).
Czechia fought hard, with Lukas Vasina scoring 17 points, alongside Jan Galabov (13) and Patrik Indra (10), but could not stop Bulgaria from sealing a 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22 win.
“We are medalists and I can’t believe it! Tomorrow we will try to color the medal in gold,” said Nikolov. Czech captain Adam Zajicek added: “We gave everything, but Bulgaria was better. Tomorrow is another fight, and we want a medal.”
