The team that wins the Challenger Cup will face the last-placed challenger team at the 2018 FIVB Nations League for a spot at the 2019 edition of the tournament. This year Argentina are ranked last amongst the Challenger Teams in the 2018 VNL and have been relegated.
In Lima, the six participating teams are divided into two pools of three. The top two of each pool advance to crosswise semifinals, followed by a bronze medal match and final.
“We are happy and full of motivation to play at home. We know that the teams who will participate at the tournament are strong opponents, including Puerto Rico which are the 13th in the World ranking and Bulgaria are the 17th. But our team is very united and committed to defending the colors of our country with pride” said Clarivett Yllescas the captain of Peru.

*Australia didn’t pass qualifications but they have been offered the second chance to compete as AVC representative at the FIVB Challenge Cup due to Kazakhstan announced that they cannot take part.
