The Argentine came instead of the Argentine in the libero’s position at Montpellier. From Saint-Nazaire, Sebastián Closter replaced Alexis González, who moved to Paris. Montpellier recruited one of the key players in Saint-Nazaire’s return to Ligue A after 7 years. The 33-year-old player has been playing in France for 7 years, passing through Chaumont (national champion in 2017), Rennes, Toulouse, and Saint-Nazaire, with whom he became the 2nd division (Ligue B Masculine) champion last season. Closter is the former Argentina National Team member with whom he won the Pan American Games in 2015.

Montpellier’s management is making a lot of effort to have a strong squad for the next season in which they’ll compete in the CEV Champions League again after 47 years. French internationals Nicolas Le Goff and Théo Faure extended contracts, as did Canadian middle blocker Danny Demyanenko and outside hitter Julien Lecat. The French champions have signed a foreign outside hitter duo: Brazilian Leonardo Nascimento ’Leozinho’ (Fiat/Gerdau/Minas), and Belgian Marin Dukic (Nice).
