FRA M: No upsets when it comes to booking tickets for semis – Chaumont, Paris, and Ajaccio join Tours

Although all series of the 2017/18 French men’s volleyball championship Ligue A playoff quarterfinals were highly interesting, there were no upsets when it comes to booking tickets for the semifinals.

Out of all top four seeds, No.2 Chaumont Volley-Ball 52 Haute-Marne had the toughest job. By claiming Game 3 (3-0), they came back from 0-1 to 2-1 against No.7 Tourcoing Volley-Ball. Stéphen Boyer scored 14 points, while Yacine Louati served 4 aces.

No.3 Paris Volley and No.4 GFC Ajaccio Volley-Ball also progressed to the semis as they both clinched the series with a 2-1 but only after their rivals, No.6 Montpellier Volley Université Club and No.5 Stade Poitevin Volley Beach (Poitiers), respectively, managed to tie at 1-1.

Wouter ter Maat topped Paris with 24 points, while American Mitchell Stahl added 5 kill blocks and 83% attack (10/12).

Thimotée Carle was the best scorer in Ajaccio with 21 points. Serbian Dejan Radić made 4 kill blocks, and Jean-Françios Exiga 83% reception (18 digs, 22% excellent).

No.1 Tours Volley-Ball secured their place in the semis earlier.
