“I would have preferred a different ending,” says Jan Lindenmair, but the statement from the club said “We are convinced that this was a necessary step for our team’s weak performance in Wiesbaden.“
“I can not understand it and think it’s a shame. I just hope that everything goes smoothly in this stage.“
The main reason for this sudden step is the game against VC Wiesbaden they lost in 77 minutes 0:3 (19:25, 16:25, 23:25). Since the quarter-finals will be played in “best of three“, next Sunday, win is a must.
Coach doesn’t accept sporting reasons for separation: “Fifth place was more than we had planned. I can not understand that a single game can put the entire performance of this season in question.“
“For the many years of successful cooperation, we thank Jan Lindenmair” the statement says at the end.
Jan Lindenmair was the most successful coach in the club’s history. As assistant to Alexander Waibl he advanced to Bundesliga in 2008 and in March 2009 was officially selected as the head coach. In 2011 he won the Cup with Stuttgart – their only previous title.
