The Berlin Recycling Volleys secured their seventh DVV Cup victory in a dominant 3-0 win (25-13, 25-18, 25-23) against WWK Volleys Herrsching in front of 10,887 spectators at the SAP Arena. This win marks the first time the team, coached by Joel Banks, has successfully defended their title. Marek Sotola was the standout player of the final, scoring 19 points.
The Berlin team showed their superiority in service and blocking, making the first two sets one-sided. Herrsching put up a fight in the third set, proving their worth in the final, but the German champions held their nerve to lift the trophy. Johannes Tille was named “Player of the Match.”
The first set saw Berlin dominate early on, with aces from Ruben Schott and Timo Tammemaa leading to a quick lead. Despite Herrsching’s efforts and the support from their fans, Berlin’s overall superiority was undeniable. The second and third sets followed a similar pattern, with Berlin establishing early leads. Despite a temporary setback due to an injury to their libero Satoshi Tsuiki and a spirited comeback from Herrsching, Berlin managed to secure the win, thanks to consistent play and crucial points from Marek Sotola.
