After collecting 318 caps for the Germany National Team, Jochen Schöps decided to end his international career.

Schöps had the honor to represent Germany as the captain in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. In 2014, he was an important part of the national team that won the first volleyball World Championship medal (bronze medal) for Germany since 1970. A year later, he led the national team to the gold medal in the CEV European Games in Baku, while in 2009 he clinched another gold medal – in the CEV European League.

At club level, a 34-year-old opposite hitter triumphed in the German Bundesliga 3 times (2005, 2006, and 2007), all with VfB Friedrichshafen, which was crowned with the 2007 CEV Champions League title. With the Polish club Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, whose jersey he wore since 2012, he won the PlusLiga trophy twice (2013 and 2015). This is only a portion of titles that Schöps has won in his 16-year professional career.

Individually, among other awards, he was named MVP of the 2007 CEV Champions League, 2009 CEV European League, and 2015 PlusLiga, as well as Best Player in Germany twice (2007, 2008).

Schöps will continue his career on a club level with the French side Stade Poitevin Volley Beach (Poitiers) for which he signed the deal this summer.
