Quite a sensational news that appeared yesterday turned out to be true: the Italy Women’s National Team head coach Mazzanti took on the reins of the club in his home country, Perugia. The 44-year-old expert, who debuted as a coach when he was only 27 (assistant coach in the second division team Pema Corplast Corridonia in 2002/03), came instead of Fabio Bovari.
Mazzanti has a reputation as a three-time winner of the Italian Championship – with Zanetti Bergamo in 2011, Vbc Èpiù Casalmaggiore in 2015, and Imoco Volley Cengliano in 2016. A year after claiming the title with the latter, he received the call to become the head coach of the Italian National Team, which is a role he‘ll continue to perform.
