Cristina Chirichella attacks against Arias Perez
The game started with a very tight set between the Italians and the South American team respectively number 4 and 10 in the FIVB World ranking. After that the Dominicans scored four points in a row, the Italians bounced back in the middle of the set. The 202 cm tall Valentina Diouf well reacted at the net and help her team come back and win the set 25-23.
Mencarelli’s squad was even stronger in the second set and did not give a chance to their rivals. After losing 25-17 in the second round, the Dominicans did not give up and showed their determination to their opponents. The first ten points were to their advantage, although this was not enough.
Finally in the third and last set, the South Americans signed their defeat at 25-20.
