MVM W: Japan wins hard fight against Germany

After their two defeats against the Dominican Republic (3-1) and Italy (3-0), it was difficult to believe that the Germans could play at the same level as their opponents. After more than two hours of game, the Germans lost their third Pool game at Montreux Volley Masters 2013 1-3 against Japan.

At the beginning of the match, the Europeans were leading until their opponents caught up and kept the ball to their advantage to finally finish the first set at 21-25.

Beside the good performance of Japanese main hitter Nagaoka Miyu, the Germans were able to win the second set (25-23).

Germany was able to keep the same level and led in the third set until the 18th point. At this moment, the Asians bounced back and ended the set in their favor 22-25.

In the fourth and last set, there was a wide difference of quality in the Germans’ game. Adding to this, the Japanese increased the number of kills and defeated the Europeans 14-25.

After more than two hours of game, the Germans lost their third Pool game 1-3.

The top scorer was Nagaoka Miyu with 18 points and from Germany it was Hippe Saskia 13.
