Luciano De Cecco has joined Modena Volley for the upcoming Serie A1 season. The veteran setter is making a transition from Cucine Lube Civitanova to the Modena squad. During the press conference unveiling his new role, De Cecco revealed that he will not be part of the Argentine national team next year.
De Cecco, born in 1988, is widely regarded as one of the top setters globally. His move to Modena Volley marks a new chapter in his career after four successful years with Cucine Lube Civitanova. At the press event, Modena Volley also introduced him as the team’s new captain.
De Cecco, who played a pivotal role in Argentina’s bronze medal win at the Tokyo Olympics and their South American Championship triumph in 2023, announced his decision to step back from international duties. “I had always said I would step away from the national team after Olympics,” he noted. “I’ve decided to take a break, and I won’t be participating in 2025.”
As he gears up for the Serie A1 season with Modena, De Cecco expresses enthusiasm about his new team and role. “Experiencing Modena from within is wonderful,” he said. “I’m honored and ready to lead this team with great potential toward our goals for the season.”
