More bad news for Cucine Lube Civitanova. Following yesterday’s update on an injury during training, the club has released a statement regarding their captain and key defensive player, Fabio Balaso—and it’s not encouraging.
Balaso has suffered a fracture to the fourth metacarpal bone in his right hand. After medical consultations, both the club’s health staff and the athlete agreed that surgery is necessary. The operation, which will involve reduction and osteosynthesis of the fracture, is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1st in Modena. It will be performed by Professor Luigi Tarallo and his team.
The injury occurred during a routine training session last Friday at the Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova Marche, following an accidental collision with a teammate. Further evaluations are expected in the days following the procedure.
