Itas Trentino tightened the SuperLega title race Sunday with a standout 3-1 win over Sir Susa Scai Perugia, capping an action-packed seventh round marked by tight finishes and surprising upsets across Italy’s top volleyball league.

Trento leaned on a dominant 29-point performance from Théo Faure to hand Perugia only second loss of the season. After dropping a tense third set 29-27, Trento recovered and closed out the match 25-23 in the fourth, cutting into Perugia’s lead at the top of the table.

Rana Verona also moved into joint first place after sweeping Vero Volley Monza 3-0. Verona controlled the match from the opening serve, with Darlan Souza and Noumory Keita combining for 34 points in a steady, high-efficiency performance.

Padova delivered the shock of the round, rallying past Cucine Lube Civitanova 3-2 in a thriller decided 19-17 in the fifth set. Mattia Orioli led Padova with 22 points and earned MVP honors. Despite 30 points from Civitanova’s Aleksandar Nikolov, the visitors failed to close multiple match opportunities in the tie-break.

Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza cruised to a 3-0 win over Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina behind a balanced scoring lineup, while Valsa Group Modena outlasted MA Acqua S.Bernardo Cuneo 3-2 after a marathon fourth set that ended 36-34.

In Saturday’s match, Allianz Milano swept Cisterna Volley 3-0, extending Cisterna’s losing streak.
