Playing in front of packed crowd at PalaBarton Energy, Perugia recovered from an opening-set loss to prevail 25-27, 26-24, 25-22, 25-20 and close the best-of-five series 3-0.

The victory capped a dominant postseason run for Angelo Lorenzetti’s side, which advanced through the playoffs without losing a single match. Perugia swept Monza in the quarterfinals, Piacenza in the semifinals and Civitanova in the Finals, dropping only seven sets across the entire campaign.

Libero Massimo Colaci was named Credem Banca MVP of the Finals. The veteran, who won his sixth Italian title.

“This is an incredible emotion,” Colaci said after the match. “Winning in front of our fans makes it even more special.”

Perugia’s attacking trio once again proved decisive. Wassim Ben Tara led the champions with 18 points, while Oleh Plotnytskyi added 14 and Kamil Semeniuk finished with 13.

Civitanova, however, pushed Perugia throughout the evening behind an outstanding performance from Aleksandar Nikolov. The Bulgarian outside hitter scored a match-high 25 points, Mattia Bottolo contributed 16 points, while Eric Loeppky added 15.

The turning point came in the second set. After falling behind 20-14, Perugia mounted a dramatic comeback fueled by Ben Tara’s serve run and improved defensive pressure. Giannelli’s block on Nikolov erased a Civitanova set point before Semeniuk sealed the set 26-24, leveling the match and shifting momentum firmly toward the home side.

Perugia carried that energy into the third set, where consecutive aces from Ben Tara helped create separation. The hosts maintained control from there, before closing the championship in the fourth set amid emotional scenes inside the arena.

The title marks Lorenzetti’s sixth career Scudetto as a head coach and further cements Perugia’s position among the elite clubs in Italian volleyball. The championship also completed another trophy-winning season for the Umbrian club, which continues to establish itself as one of Europe’s dominant teams.
