The Italian Volleyball Federation anticipated the resistance from volleyball circles inside the country and signed a very uncommon contract with the new head coach of men's national team.

The main task of Gianlorenzo Blengini will be to lead Italy at the important tournament of the World Cup in Japan (September 8-23) that is giving away two spots for the 2016 Olympics in Rio and at the European Championship in Italy and Bulgaria (October 9-18). That competition will be a second chance to the teams from Europe to qualify for Rio.

At the end of the ECH, the Italian VF will make the appropriate assessments along with Blengini and his club Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova to decide whether to entrust the national team to him again.

The Association of Italian Coaches raised its voice against Blengini’s dual role.
