The American team, current world and Grand Prix champion, trains with 20 players for the World Cup, trying to close a year with three major titles on its account.

In addition to the players that represented USA at the recent Grand Prix and Pan American Games, Karch Kiraly called the setter Alisha Glass. The final list will have 14 players.

“July was a challenging month, as we chose to split the USA Women in two to compete in simultaneous tournaments, World Grand Prix and the Pan American Games. Saturday, July 25 was a special day for our program, as our teams won two gold medals in two countries, both in matches against teams representing the legendary Brazilian Women’s program. Our players and coaches have taken great pride in developing new talent and integrating those players into meaningful roles, and our performance benefited as a result,” US head coach Karch Kiraly said.

The World Cup is a competition that will be played in Japan (August 22 – September 6) with the top three teams qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Kiraly’s wide list:

Opposites: Nicole Fawcett, Karsta Lowe and Kelly Murphy; Receivers: Megan Easy, Kim Hill, Jordan Larson-Burbach, Kelsey Robinson and Krista Vansant; Middle blockers: Foluke Akinradewo, Christa Harmotto-Dietzen , Tori Dixon, Lauren Gibbemeyer and Cursty Jackson; Setters: Alisha Glass, Jenna Hagglund, Molly Kreklow and Courtney Thompson; Liberos: Kayla Banwarth, Natalie Hagglund and Tama Miyashiro.
