Perugia reign in Superlega! By beating titleholders Lube for the fourth time in five encounters this season (counting all competitions), Lorenzo Bernardi’s wards fixed themselves at the top of the standings with 7 points and two wins more than their nearest followers Lube, four rounds before the end of the regular stage.
After the opening set, which went to the visiting side Lube as they made a five-point gap (12-7), the rest of the match was under the control of Perugia. When Perugia got themselves a 9-5 in the fourth set, the festivity in the packed PalaEvangelisti (more than 4,000 spectators) could set off.
The top scorer of the evening was Serbian opposite from Perugia, Aleksandar Atanasijević, with 23 points. His compatriot Marko Podraščanin made 4 kill blocks, finishing the match with 10 points on his account. As for Lube, the American Taylor Sander delivered 16 points, while Davide Candellaro made 5 kill blocks (10 points).
