According to a report by BO Sport, Dmitriy Muserskiy has agreed to an extension of his contract with the Japanese club Suntory Sunbirds for the upcoming 2023/24 season. Muserskiy, who joined Suntory in 2018, has achieved remarkable success with the team.
During his time at Suntory, Muserskiy played a crucial role in their triumphs, helping them secure the championship title twice (in 2021 and 2022) and claim the silver medal (in 2023) and bronze medal (in 2020) in the national championship. Additionally, the team emerged as the silver medalist in the 2022 Asian Club Championship.
Throughout his tenure with the Russian national team, Muserskiy has participated in 171 matches, contributing to numerous prestigious victories. These include winning the 2012 Olympics, the 2011 World Cup, the 2013 European Championship, the 2018 Nations League, as well as clinching the World League title twice (in 2011 and 2013).
Muserskiy, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2013 CEV European Championship and recognized as the Best Middle Blocker in the FIVB World League in 2013 and the FIVB Volleyball Nations League in 2018, faced a setback two seasons ago. He was suspended for a significant period due to a violation of anti-doping rules. Dmitriy Muserskiy maintained that his test results were concealed.
