The drawing of lots for the ANCH

The competition which will be opened in presence of CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani and CAVB first vice president Mory Keita features a ground breaking clash between the North African neighbours Tunisia and Algeria.

Host and defending champions Kenya face Senegal in another tough face off, while Egypt line up against Cameroon in another thrilling encounter.

The drawing of lots was held on Friday at Sports View Hotel in Nairobi where the schedule of the 6 nation round robin tournament was determined in presence of CAVB President Elwani, first vice president Keita, Referee delegate Djouad Barrada, SOC delegate Charles Nyaberi, CAVB executive director Howyda Mondy and KVF president Waithaka Kioni.

Coming with a star studded squad, Kenya come as the biggest contender for the trophy. The host already had a record of 7 African titles under their name squared a team with 7 players from the African Club Champions Prisons and 4 from their compatriots Pipeline.

Three time African Champions Egypt seek the first title since 10 years when they captured the gold in the Nairobi 2003. Head coach Ahmed Fathy selected 4 players from the U18 National team that participated in the World champs in Thailand and 5 others from U20 team participating in the World Championship of this age category in Czech Republic beside only 3 senior players.

2011 Runner up Algeria had a big change in their lineup who won the title in 2009 and two gold medals at 2007 and 2011 All Africa Games fielding 6 young players after the retire of both stars Fatma Oukazi and Zohra Ben Salem.

Tunisia come also with a new look team keeping only 3 veterans; Fatma Ktari, Zohra Rihani and Nihel Ghoul as they want to come back to the podium since their last gold in 1999.

Senegal aim for a medal in the podium to be their first in 5 participations with 8 teams in their squad play outside the country, while 5 time bronze medalists Cameroon struggle to improve their position in the podium.
