CRO: Summary of the women’s and men’s SuperLeague round 4

by WoV

There were no major surprises in the matches of the 4th round of the  Super League. Mursa Osijek beat Split 3-0 (22, 15, 19) in 71 minutes, as well as Ribola Kaštela Sisak (19, 16, 19), which still took them two minutes longer.

After the game, Ribola Kaštela coach Ivan Rančić said:

Congratulations to the boys on the victory. We played exactly as much as we needed to. I have to admit that we are happier with the friendly matches we play on Tuesday and Wednesday with the Budva team, which is a much bigger challenge. Today we rotated a lot of players, with an emphasis on the younger ones, such as Barić, Barač, Cvijović and Kulušić who played a great game today. Next week we will have three games in a row, two friendly matches with Budva and the championship game in Rijeka, and I, as a coach, will have extremely happy games in such a short time, because that is the only way to get the form we want.

Speaking of counting the minutes, let’s say that it took Rovinj the least time to win at home over Marsonia by 3-0 (14, 18, 21), only 70 minutes. Two matches ended in four sets, Rijeka won 3-1 away in Gorica (25-18, 22-25, 25-15, 25-18), as did Kitro Varaždin with 3-1 (25-22). , 25-22, 20-25, 25-18) won the guests Zadar.

The match between Centrometal and Mladost was postponed due to the match between the Zagreb team in the MEVZA league, where they beat the Austrian team AICH / Dob Zadruga 3-2.

After the 4th round, Mursa Osijek and Mladost lead with 12 points each and almost 4-0, while Gorica with four defeats and Zadar with five defeats are at the back without points.

In the women’s volleyball derby, Marina Kaštela beat Dinamo 3-0 (16, 18, 24), as did Kaštela Veli Vrh away in Pula. The results were tight in terms of sets, 21-25, 24-26, 23-25.

Brda beat Dubrovnik 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18), as well as Rijeka CO Karlovac away. It was in sets 25-20, 23-25, 15-25, 14-25, and after the game, the home player Ana Ištuk said:

The team from Rijeka is much more experienced than us, but we showed in the first set that this is not an excuse, that we can play with them. We worked out tactics for them all week, but we failed to apply what we were training. If the second set ended differently, maybe the game would have ended differently, I think we could have done much better. In any case, congratulations, a well-deserved victory for the visiting team.”

Mladost easily beat Osijek 3-0 (12, 13, 16) at home in the Volleyball Hall, and Mladostašica Zorana Brčić said after the match:

Congratulations to my team and the staff on the victory. This was a mentally and physically very difficult match for us because we have entered a cycle of very difficult matches and we have a tight schedule. I am glad that we did our best, showed why we are worth it and that it resulted in our 3-0 victory.

The only match of this 4th round that went in five sets was played in Vukovar where the home team Enna Vukovar with 3-2 (17-25, 27-29, 25-20, 25-21, 15-11) beat Split, turning it around a 2-0 lead in sets.

After the 4th round, Marina Kaštela leads with 12 points with a score of 4-0, the second is Mladost with a score of 3-0 and 8 points, the same as the third-placed Rijeka CO, but with a score of 3-1. The last women from Dubrovnik are without points after four defeats.
